Our resident blogger, Sarah Jayne Adams, shares her favourite winter wardrobe essentials, which include everything from coats and knitwear, to must-have accessories that are sure to keep you warm through all this month’s festivities.
Wrap Up Warm
Along with the dark nights come the bitter chill of winter’s frosty bite, which means it’s time to update our wardrobes with some staple cover ups. It might not be snowing (yet) but with a variety of events taking place in Sunderland in month, including Bonfire Night, Sunderland Illuminations, the Christmas light switch on and more, you don’t want to let the cold weather hold you back from the festivities. Here, I’m sharing with you some statement jackets, cosy knits and some key accessories that’ll ensure you wrap up warm and stay toasty all winter long.
Cover It Up
When it comes to jackets and coats you have two options; choose something that’s classic, or go with the trends. It all depends on your budget. Need something that’s going to last a few years then opt for a parker, or leather number. Want a statement piece that’s going to have you looking fabulous not freezing? Then choose a coat with a pop of colour, or a jacket that focuses on fabrics such as a glamorous faux fur item.
You simply can’t go wrong with knitwear. No matter your shape or style, knitwear is a piece that complements other items in your wardrobe perfectly and can be worn with ease. If you want to add that something extra to your outfit, then opt for some embellished jumpers, or ones with logos/badges on for that super-cool appeal.
The Finishing Touches
Accessories can be easily forgotten about, but trust me, they’re crucial when staying warm this winter, especially if you’re taking part in the festivities above. If you’re a ‘Plain Jayne’ like me, accessories can be a great way of styling up a minimal outfit without spending a fortune. Classic leather or checkered gloves are a great way of adding a touch of luxury, while bold and bright hats and scarfs can let your personality shine through.
