As we cling to the last few days of sunshine, I think it’s safe to say that summer is finally over and autumn is fast approaching. Personally, I love autumn. In fact, it’s my favourite season. So, I’m thrilled to share with you my key fashion and beauty pieces for transitioning into A/W18.
When it comes to styling the smallest details can make the biggest impact, and a fresh coat of varnish on your nails can make a huge difference when completing your outfit. As we move out of summer, it’s time to step away from the neon colours and ombre glitter in exchange for muted tones and dark shades. Bejewelled reds, forest greens and mauve purples are perfect for the new season, however, if you’re not ready for darker colours then keep it simple with a nude.

Make Mine A Mac
What’s a girl to do when it’s still ridiculously warm, but it’s wet and miserable outside? Get a mac! This must-have wardrobe staple is not only perfect when transitioning into autumn, but into spring too. The thin fabric has the ability to keep you cool and dry, and keeps the wind out. Available in a variety of styles – from belted to buttoned – there’s something to suit everyone.
Trench Coat, £69, Topshop
It’s not only fashion that changes to suit to seasons, make-up does too. You’ll see when we move into autumn/winter that darker colours come into play when enhancing the eyes and lips. While smoky eyes reign supreme as an eyelook, a berry pout is the main focus for lips. Plum, violet, mulberry, jam, grape – find a shade that suits your skin tone and get ready to pucker up.

The New ‘It’ Colour
Forget Millennial pink, this autumn it’s all about the colour yellow. This new ‘it’ colour is being described as somewhere between a marigold and the shade of French mustard, but don’t let the thought of Big Bird put you off, this colour can be worn by everyone. Whether you go bold with a key clothing piece, or accessorise with a pop of colour, be sure to incorporate this shade into your wardrobe.

Let’s Go H2O
Our skin reacts to the change in weather and, for many of us, when it becomes colder our skin can become dry and/or lacking lustre. Just like it’s important to invest in products with an SPF in during the summer, it’s essential to find items that can give your skin the protection it needs during autumn. Whether it’s a rich moisturiser, hydrating serum, or moisturising balm, make sure your skincare selfie is prepared.
Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream, £36, Debenhams
This style of footwear continues to be a HUGE trend this season with trainers being the ideal transitioning shoe between pumps to boots. Retro, classic, sport, or modern – if you don’t own a pair, trainers are definitely worth investing in.

Badge Printed Trainer, £35, River Island (men)
One simple way to slide into a new season without changing up your style is with your fragrance. You know what they say, scents hold memories and particular fragrances remind us of certain seasons. While fresh, floral scents are ideal for summer, earthy, rich and musky fragrances blend perfectly into A/W.
