Help Save Lives in our Community!

The British Heart Foundation is launching a brand new appeal, The Big Donation, aimed at encouraging people to clear out their wardrobes and donate to the charity without it costing them a penny and this summer we at the Bridges are taking part.

This campaign will be the UK’s biggest ever stock appeal and something we anticipate will be a huge success as we know how generous the Sunderland community is!

BHF volunteers will be located at Market Square every day during the campaign to issue you with a free donation bag. Visitors are invited to fill the bag with clothes, CDs, shoes, accessories, CDs, bric-a-brac, toys and books, and then return the bag to the Drop Point situated in Market Square before the end of the 2 week campaign. The goods will then be sold in British Heart Foundations charity shops to raise much needed funds to help fight heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer.

Your donations will make a real difference: just nine books can fund an hour of scientific research into finding a cure for heart disease, and one pair of good quality shoes can help a Heart Nurse provide advice to one caller on the Heart HelpLine.

Our target is 1,200 bags in two weeks so come on people of Sudnerland help us reach that target and beat the UK’s biggest killer!
