From Friday 23 October – Sunday 1 November, sink your teeth into the city-wide programme which will bring together terribly good events, devilish displays and wicked offers.
There are plenty of tricks and treats to get involved if you’re brave enough – from a safe distance of course!
Things to join:
Sunderland BID and the city altered their plans to make sure we can all enjoy Halloween safely this year, and a special Facebook group has been created to provide you with plenty of hair-raising and eerie delights.
For obvious reasons, the community parade can’t go ahead. But a ‘Virtual Parade’ group will be the place to express and share weird and wonderful spooky ideas so you can enjoy Halloween at a distance or home.
Share your alternative Halloween ideas, or get involved with workshops and lives streams around Sunderland this Halloween.
Things to see:
From Friday 23 October until Sunday 1 November, take to the streets and find your favourite creatures hidden on landmark buildings.
You will find a combination of fun inflatable and Augmented Reality Monsters in the form of an outdoor community trail for all.
The monster trail can be downloaded via a bespoke app on to any smartphone, which will guide you to the various locations across Sunderland city centre.
The Makem Monster trail and app will be available from Friday 23 October.
Sunderland’s Spooky Story competition coincides with Sunderland Literature Festival and has been divided up into three age groups – five to nine-year-olds, ten to 13-year-olds and 14 to 18-year-olds.
Let your imaginations run wild and come up with some incredible and terrifying tales.
Start developing those spine-tingling, toe-curling plots…
Things to know:
Hundreds of ghouls, ghosts and goblins will fill the streets of Sunderland with terror, as part of an ambitious Halloween extravaganza.
From 25 October – 3 November the city will host Lights Out, a celebration of the most frightening time of year with a whole host of horrifying activities taking place.
Get involved in the AR trail which will bring monsters to life in Sunderland! A bunch of specially created virtual reality monsters will take Halloween in Sunderland to a whole new dimension.
The creations will come to life when visitors scan landmark buildings around the city centre, in a similar way to the Pokemon GO sensation of a few years ago.
Don’t miss out! More information to be announced very soon!
