ONLY ESSENTIAL RETAILERS REMAIN OPEN AT THE BRIDGES…

SUNDERLAND’S leading shopping centre is now only open to buy essentials, as part of the Government’s continued crackdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

With the introduction of new, tighter restrictions, only those retailers selling items including medical supplies and food are allowed to remain open.

“The Bridges is now complying with the Government’s request that only essential retailers remain open as part of the action plan to contain Covid-19,” said Andy Bradley, Centre Director at the Bridges.

“These are uncertain times and we would like to say thank you to our community for their continued support.

“We would ask shoppers coming into the centre to also observe the rules around distancing from other people, hand washing and returning home as soon as they have bought their essentials.”

The retailers currently remaining open are Iceland, Boots, Tesco, Savers, Holland & Barrett, Superdrug, News and Booze, HSBC, Halifax, Virgin Money, Bargain Buys and Jackie White’s Market.

Shoppers are advised only to visit the stores if absolutely necessary and also check with the shops directly to clarify individual opening times.

Centre hours are now 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sunday with late night trading on Thursdays temporarily suspended.

The Bridges multi-storey car park will also be closed but the rooftop car park will remain open.

“The priority is for everyone to stay safe and well and only come to the centre if absolutely necessary,” said Andy.
