THE BRIDGES PROMISES A ROYAL DAY OUT

SUNDERLAND’S shopping centre is getting into the coronation spirit, with a special celebration planned for 6 May.

The Bridges will be fully decorated with bunting to mark the special day, as well as providing a host of entertainment for shoppers and their families, with arts and crafts, face painting and the arrival of its very own king and queen.

Passers-by will also be able to enjoy live music, with performers singing hit songs from across the years, including some by King Charles III favourite band – The Three Degrees.

Special coronation cookies have also been created by the centre which will be given out to shoppers free of charge while stocks last.

The fun kicks off at 11am and runs right up to 3pm, with people being encouraged to come along and enjoy the historic occasion.

Karen Eve, Centre Director at the Bridges, is looking forward to the event.

“We had an amazing day last year when it was the Queen’s Jubilee,” she said.

“And we couldn’t let this very special occasion pass us by without ensuring it was a memorable one for our shoppers.

“We’ve put together a programme of events with something for everyone and we hope families will bring their children down and get them involved in the activities as well as listening to the live music – and eating our coronation cookies.”
